About Us

Choices Basketball🏀Association ("CBA") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and was established in July of 2005 by Coach Kevin "Tigan" Sheppard. CBA primarily focuses on youth development in St Croix, United States Virgin Islands and have been an active organization in the community for the past 16 years. We have provided various programs to foster youth development through summer basketball leagues and camps, after school programs, and summer field trips. We strongly believe that the future of the Virgin Islands depends on the growth and development of the youth. So we strive to provide opportunities for our youth to thrive in their communities and in life.

Through the support and contribution of our donors, we have been able to provide opportunities for the youth of the Virgin Islands to travel throughout the United States to play basketball and obtain exposure and opportunities to be scouted by colleges. We emphasize that sports and academics are important for our youth to succeed in life and seek out opportunities to encourage our youth to not only pursue sports, but also to pursue knowledge and education.

Currently we have established four scholarship programs, the: Dean "Mac" Heywood, Derrik Miller, Kevin "Tigan" Sheppard and Coach Donald Bough Scholarships. These scholarships are intended for the youths of St. Croix who are seniors in high school and are doing well academically and athletically, to be utilized in their pursuit of higher learning. Our goal is to eventually be able to provide full scholarships to our youth so that they may pursue higher learning at the institution of their choosing.

CBA's motto is "Each One, Teach One, Reach Everyone" because we believe that it is our duty to do what we can to help one another and to make a difference in the lives that we come in contact with. If each of us strive to teach one, we can reach everyone. Together we can make a difference in our community and create a better world for our youth to survive and thrive.
